I had a pound left over so bought a ticket, as I always do, because it\u2019s such a good cause.<\/p>\n \u201cNever did I think that my \u00a31 would turn into \u00a37,500; I\u2019m still in shock. These things don\u2019t happen to us. It was only the other day we were talking about what we\u2019d do if we won and working out how we\u2019d split it between our family.<\/p>\n \u201cThe charity is near to our hearts, so we always want to support in some way. Years ago, I worked as a nurse in a hospital and I\u2019ll never forget a young child dying of leukaemia. We had two little ones at the time and I felt like I wanted to give it up; I couldn\u2019t continue seeing such devastating things happen to children. I was at Aberfan during the disaster in 1966 too. You don\u2019t forget those things, they stick with you for life.<\/p>\n \u201cAs well as making a donation to the charity and giving to our family, we\u2019ll be using the money to treat ourselves too.<\/p>\n \u201cMy wife has had several illnesses over the last few years, so a while ago we booked to go away on a cruise around the British Isles for a much-needed break that\u2019s not too far from home territory!<\/p>\n \u201cBut now that we\u2019ve won this money, we\u2019ll be able to afford to do a couple of the excursions and trips along the way.
