Our vision is to ensure every life-limited child and young person in Wales lives a full family life.<\/h2>\n

For this to happen, it\u2019s also vital that mums, dads, brothers and sisters receive the support they need during such a difficult time.<\/p>\n

This involves us offering a wide range of free\u00a0care and support at our hospice and in the community.<\/p>\n

Specialist staff, including children\u2019s nurses, family support workers and play workers, give care and comfort to families over weeks, months and years, helping them create precious memories to cherish forever.<\/p>\n

We also offer short break care to children and young people at our hospice so families can take time out from their caring duties. During these visits, parents and other family members can stay at the hospice as well.<\/p>\n

If the sad day comes when a child does die, we are still there for their family, for however long they need us. We never stop caring for the bereaved.<\/p>\n

Today, we are caring for an increasing number of life-limited children and their families. What do we mean by life-limited?<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

We use the term life-limited to describe a child not expected to live beyond 18 years of age.<\/p>\n

We have supported over 850 children since we opened in 1999.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

We are there for families in Wales for however long they need us \u2013 at home, in hospital, at school and in our hospice.<\/p>\n

Importantly, we\u2019re also a family\u2019s safe haven when their child is close to the end of life, providing expert comfort and support in their darkest hours and beyond.<\/p>\n

To do this, we provide a wide range of\u00a0care and support<\/strong>\u00a0at our hospice in the Vale of Glamorgan, in the homes of families and their communities.<\/span><\/p>\n

Vital to providing this free care and support are:<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

  • The nurses and therapists<\/strong>\u00a0who care for children and young people around the clock to keep them pain free<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    • Members of our specialist team<\/strong>\u00a0who provide emotional and practical support to ease worries and give families more precious time together<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • The advisers who tell families about the financial support they\u2019re entitled to and how they can access other support services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          \n
        • The advocates who work on the behalf of families, making sure their voices and opinions are heard by health and social care services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
            \n
          • The volunteers who support T\u0177 Hafan\u2019s services and raise awareness of them locally and nationally<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
              \n
            • The fundraisers who give their time and energy to raise the money that makes all of our work possible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

               <\/p>\n

              Together, we are a very special team that creates a lifetime of memories for life-limited children, young people and their families to cherish.<\/strong><\/p>\n
